Our website had an unwelcome vacation for the last 3 months but we are back! Your webmaster will take a couple of weeks to do some updating.
Our next big event is our Open House and Display of Work! It will be Tuesday April 18 from 1-5 pm. What will you see? Works from our recent classes; works from our online classes which took place during the pandemic; other pieces which our busy fingers have done on our own. That’s 3 pent up years of art ready to be displayed!
Come along and see what we’ve done and take a break in the Tea Room to discuss it all!
The Embroiderers’ Association of Canada has declared the last Saturday in September to be National Stitch-in-Public Day. That will be Sat Sept 24th, this year. While our Guild is not a member of the EAC, we are all in favour of stitching! So, you are encouraged to bring your work to the park or the mall or even your own front yard and let others see your love of embroidery! Have fun!
Our next outdoor get-together will be at Royal City Park in Guelph on Tuesday July 5th from 10 am to noon. This will be the same place as our other get-togethers, near the pavilion. Remember that this is open to all so feel free to bring a friend. Bring a lawn chair. If it rains, we’ll retreat into the pavilion.
Our last summer stitch-in will be on World Embroidery Day – Saturday, July 30th. Same place, same time!
[Park in the laneway near the pavilion or park in the shopping area near the park. There is a little walkway from the parking lot to the park.]

We received this news about the upcoming Almonte (near Ottawa) FibreFest:
This year the Almonte Fibrefest will be returning as an in-person event. To reassure visitors and maintain a healthy festival space for all, we will have more space between vendor/demonstrator booths at the venue, and will continue to offer virtual, as well as regular in-person workshops. And while masks are no longer mandatory, they are definitely an option for visitors who would like to wear one. Are you a fibre/textile artisan? Space is available for vendor and workshop applications. Visit almontefibrefest.ca for details on how to apply.
Our next outdoor get-together will be at Royal City Park in Guelph on Tuesday June 7th from 10 am to noon. This will be the same place as our May 17th get-together, near the pavilion. Remember that this is open to all so feel free to bring a friend. Bring a lawn chair. If it rains, we’ll retreat into the pavilion. Check the May 17th news for the map.
Since there were a few who missed the outdoor stitch-in back on May 3rd, we’re having a second stitching day this month.
Our previous location – Riverside Park – is totally under construction so don’t go there!
This time, we’ll meet at Royal City Park in Guelph. Now that is a rather long park. We’ll head for the pavilion beside the playground, just off Gordon St.
In fact, the laneway off Gordon is just opposite the entrance to the parking lot of the Boathouse Tea Room.
You can park in the laneway OR park in the lot of the businesses at the corner of Wellington & Gordon streets. There is a charming walkway into the park at the back of the parking lot.
Bring your lawn chair as we’ll probably gather in a circle in a sunny spot. The pavilion would be in case of rain. Bring your refreshments, too.
We’ll meet on Tuesday, May 17th from 10 am – noon. Bring a friend – this is open to all.
Next dates will be Tuesday, June 7th and Tuesday, July 5th.
Tuesday May 3rd will be our next Stitch-in-the-Park day! Drop in any time from 10 am to noon at the large pavilion in Riverside Park, in Guelph. Bring your stitching, bring your drink, bring your lawn chair. If it rains, we’ll shelter under the pavilion. If it’s sunny, we’ll gather on the lawn near the pavilion. This is open to all, so feel free to bring a friend even if they (gasp!) just knit! 🙂
