Well, we all had some fun at the Christmas Workshops in late November. Discussions afterwards also focussed on the delicious goodies which were brought in. After getting several requests for the recipe for her Butterscotch Cashew Bars, Mavis has agreed that the recipe can be posted here. Enjoy!
This year’s challenge will be a “Water Fantasy” theme and be a “Brown Bag” challenge. Those deciding to sign up to do the challenge will be given a brown bag in week 5 (November 19). You must sign up in week 3 and 4 to get a brown bag in week 5.
You’ll receive a variety of fabric pieces which will include a piece of very fancy material that was donated….think of texture, glitter, sequins, gold or silver threads. Let your mind wander as you think about the theme. Be creative; plan. Then sew, embroider, bead or otherwise embellish or whatever……

The San Francisco School of Needlework and Design has issued a challenge on the theme of “Borders”.
This is not a contest but a chance for you to show what you do. Photos of your work could be on the SFSND website or the actual work displayed at their facility.

A fresh new year and the possibility of new projects!! Classes will resume on Tuesday, Jan 22 and we’ll all be ready to learn something new. Some classes are full but there is still space in blackwork, goldwork and stumpwork. Tell a friend!
We are fortunate to have arranged a 2 day workshop with Mike Parr for November 15 & 16, 2018. This is a great chance to gain some skill working with both silk and gold. The provided kit gives all the materials to make a small minaudiere-style purse but, once you’ve stitched it up, you can decide what it will become. Now that CEG Guelph’s own members have had their chance to sign up, we are opening this workshop up to the public. Skill level: Intermediate. Cost is $200 which includes 2 days of instruction, lunch both days and full kit with minaudiere, silk threads, silk dupione, gold threads. Contact cegguelph@gmail.com
